Anika James Performing Arts Scholarship at Jordan High School

As a tribute to Anika and her love for the performing arts, Anika’s family established two scholarships at her alma mater, Jordan High School in Durham NC.  One was for the senior class and one for the class of 2009, which was the year Anika would graduate.  In 2010, the Class 2009 Scholarship was replaced with a second scholarship for the senior class.   In 2012 the Anika James Foundation adopted these scholarships as part of its ongoing projects.

Every year the seniors at Jordan High School submit applications for these scholarships to the Guidance and Counseling office at Jordan.  A committee of arts teachers, a guidance counselor, and three of the Anika James Board of Directors members reviews the applications and selects the recipients.  In early January students can pick up an application from the Guidance office or use the link below to download one.

The scholarship criteria are: a special love for the arts, a passion to serve the community, engagement in the performing arts, and financial need. Each applicant is also expected to write an essay on one of the topics listed in the application. To download an application please click here.
